- Additional Information - Mr Charles Penny is the one in front with glasses my grandfather, affectionately known as nandad to all his grandchildren. He lived at 29 Percy st so didn’t have far to go to the club. His father was also called Charles Penny ( my dad ) . I have nothing but love and respect for my “nandad” because he was a survivor of the Somme among other things although he never spoke of it. Love and miss him greatly.

The man in the front with the glasses on was my grandfather charles penny, the man next to him right of the picture was my father jim davis.
The man in front is my nandad, Charles Penny. One of the greatest guys in the world. He will always be a very important part of my childhood. Fifty some years later I think of him often and still miss him greatly. The man was a two legged walking history book and full of talent. Miss Nanny also.
Thanks to Bill and Julia for your comments. These are so valuable for our Archive. So even if you think it is not important any sliver of information about people and places please comment.

Hi Ann,
Thanks for trying out the website. I aim to take you through the website either by popping round and teaching you on your laptop, organising a vistit to Sharon’s or taking everone through it by using WiFi in one of our monthly meetings in the Even Swindon Community Centre.

Hi Stephen,
I feel a bit ashamed as I’ve been catching up on the website messages and found this. I’ll certainly change the page to reflect both of your messages and so pleased despite the current gremlins that our redesigne website is being used by people.
