In the front row the boy between Terry Williams and Roger Hunt is Geoffrey Perry. The girl at the end of the third row is Julia Cuss.
In the back row the boy between Michael Taylor and Eddie Woolford is Kerrigan (Kerry) Redmond. In the same row the boy after Christine Godsell is John(?) Edwards. I am sure the last name is Edwards.
Our Headmasterat Even Swindon was Mr. Maizie (?). He was a great fellow. We all loved him.
Kerry Redmond, Julia Cuss, Geoff Perry, Margery Adams and I all went to Headlands Grammar School. Kerry became a teacher and recently was a Headmaster in a school in Devon.
I was Ann Pembridge and I am now Ann Burlison. I live in Canada.
I remember my days at the School with great affection. It was a very happy school well led by Jack Maisey. I can fill in some of the other names. Next to Phillip Telling on the end of the front row is I think Barry Hillier. In the back row next to Christine Godsell is John Edwards. The girl at the end of the third row is Julia Cuss. Many of the boys played in the school football team which won the Swindon Junior School league in 1953/54. I was the goalkeeper and other team members were John Edwards, Barry Hillier, John Seymour, Bernard Kift, Phillip Telling Geoffrey Perry and Ernie Hunt. Ernie was our Captain and a great inspiration. He was even at this age very talented and he, of course , went on to play for Swindon Town and Coventry City. I believe he also won some England caps at various levels. I have some photos of this team, which I will send in. You will note that there are 39 of us in the class at this time. My last report in 1954 shows 42. Compare this to the present.
After Headlands Grammar School I did indeed become a Secondary School teacher and for the last 20+ years of my career a Secondary Head ( 3 schools ) . Even Swindon Junior School gave me a great start. I often wonder what my classmates went on to do.
