Just a gentle correction, it’s ALFRED Bown Court in Manton Street, a former Councillor and Mayor of the Borough.
Manton Street was built in the 1870sand called William Street, in 1888 it was renamed Marner Street after H.G. Marner a former owner of the land. The name was changed to Manton Street in 1917 and demolished in 1969, when Alfred Bown Court was built on the site.
