Why we collect it

The Rodbourne Community History Group [RCHG] exists to help people remember Rodbourne’s past. To do this we allow people to add comments, including people’s names, and photographs to our website. Comments and photographs are all screened before they are published to avoid obscenities and ensure they are in keeping with the aims of the Group. If you would like your name removed from any entry please contact secretary@rodbournehistory.org

We are obliged to keep some data for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Who we share your data with

All information submitted is processed by 1&1 Ionos [our web-hosting company] and by Oikos Digital Ltd. [our web developer].

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments or become a member online, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service.

All information from memories, comments on memories, photographs, membership renewals and contact form submissions will be stored with 1&1 Ionos [our web-hosting company] in the German EU Data Centre. Some of these things may also be sent via email and will be stored by 1&1’s email systems.

A copy of the website, and therefore the data, is kept by Oikos Digital Ltd. [our web developer] for the purposes of maintaining and running the site effectively. Oikos also backup the website once a month using a service called “ManageWP”.

Items submitted direct to the Rodbourne Community History Group are kept in our digital archive. A paper copy may be made available in albums for use at exhibitions.

Your contact information

If donating photographs, your contact information is kept indefinitely to maintain our archive. If simply requesting copies of images held in our archives, your contact details will only be kept for the remainder of the financial year.
