Gordon Shaw, our Secretary presents a talk illustrating his Dad’s early family life in Derby living with his Mum & Dad, brothers George, Albert, Jim and Wilf in a terraced 2 up 2 down house opposite a brewery , Like many in the 1930’s he was forced to take various forms of employment before joining the army prior to the outbreak of the 2nd World War. We follow his early war years in the Royal Tank Regiment and his capture by the Gemans in Greece. From his diary we follow the life as a prisoner of war and escape back to his family in England during the final month of the war.
